Let sleeping babes lie...

First of all, thank-you to everyone who has expressed such kind and welcoming words for Brea and us. It has been a whirlwind in our house this past week, seeing family and friends and getting acquainted with our bundle of joy.

Brea definitely has us wrapped around her little finger :o) We are learning so much about our little girl, every sound she makes when she sleeps and all the delirium that comes with her not letting us sleep. We are trying to get some type of routine down so that when Daddy goes back to work on Tuesday, Mommy will be somewhat able to handle it.

We had our first milestone two days ago when Brea's belly button fell out! She is growing day by the day and has now gone past her birth weight - yay for Super Mommy's Milk!

Yesterday, Brea had her first photo shoot. Our friend, Glen, came by and took some fabulous pictures for us - I'll be sure to put them up for you. We look forward to more visitors and perhaps our first venture outside, I'll keep writing as Brea allows :o)

It has been the waiting game here. We've been keeping busy with walks, swims, and watching the Olympics but we're hoping Wee P will make it out into the world soon.

I have been having a horrible time sleeping these past few days (and it's even been cool). Wee P keeps squirming around and the practice contractions are WAY more noticeable when I'm lying down. Then last night, I had the bestest sleep in a long while! All thanks to our walk at Costco (PoCo) yesterday where I discovered their CuddlyComfortPillow! We've been running out of places to walk since it's been raining a lot outside and Costco is always fun. For those of you who know minky fabric (the softest stuff on Earth), this pillow is made of that and it is so cushy it folds around your body without suffocating you, giving my belly just he amount of support it needs. I've been having a lot of problems with cushions and pillows because they kinda just prop me up and I just can't ever find a comfortable position for them. I was going to look into the "body pillows" designed for pregnancy but with a $60+ price tag, I just couldn't handle buying one for the last few days of pregnancy. Enter this fab little pillow, light, cushy, soft and oh, so comfortable, all for $10! It comes in four colours: blue, green, white and pink. I'm so happy with it, I would recommend it to everyone (preggers or not) who needs or wants just a little more comfort in their life.

Breakfast, er, afternoon tea at Tiffany's

It has been a hot, hot, hot, weekend! Craig asked me out on a "date" Saturday to go to Tiffany & Co., one of the happiest and sparkliest places ever! We managed to get there in the afternoon (as Wee P has recently not been so cooperative with the whole "let mommy sleep thing") and I am now the proud owner of a blue box, which I am not allowed to open until after baby comes... come on out baby! It makes me very excited to own a blue box, I know it's kind of silly but ever since I watched "Breakfast at Tiffany's" as a young'un, it's been one of those "when I grow up..." things. It was a lot of fun looking at shiny things, most Saturdays should be spent like that :o)

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer. Craig is figuring out that he only has a few weeks left before school starts again. I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to really get away this summer like last year's trip, but we are getting set for our wildest adventure yet so I can't really complain. We are officially down to the last two couples in my prenatal class who haven't given birth yet. Reading all of the newsletter announcements that they have been sending out, I have decided two things: a) Craig is not allowed to type our announcement and b) if he does, there is no way in hell he's sending it out without me seeing it first. Some of the things that we have read are informative but of the WAY too much detail kind. Funny thing is, it's always the notes from the husbands that are so forthcoming. Probably, latent shock or something.

As the Babe Turns...

Hallelujah! After two weeks of doing cat stretches, floating on my front in the pool and holding poses with my bum in the air, the baby has turned!!! Wee P is now in the proper position to make their entry into the world, whenever he or she decides they want to do it. Two weeks left and counting down...

I was worried at first when the midwife had me read about proper birth positions and I read all about how if a baby was in a posterior position (ie. their back to your back), I'd have a longer and much harder labour. Sure enough, my little one was very comfortable in the hammock of my back and was very happy to kick, punch and squirm when I tried to make them move. I did all the things they said and today's check-up was my reward :o) I'm so happy with Wee P! Good job on turning little one! And I didn't even have to go chasing after them with a bag of frozen peas!

Feelin' Groovy!

Craig and I made our way out to UBC yesterday to watch the World Ultimates Championship finals. It was an entertaining game... Team Canada won against the USA 17-15! Congratulations! Unfortunately our friend Shawn didn't get playing time but it was a very close game and though we called out to him when he came near us, he was very intent on cheering his team on. As you can see in the picture, it was packed! If you look at the standing crowd at the bottom of the picture, that's me and Craig in our stylin' rain ponchos (you can't see Baby P in it), we are behind the guy with the honking camera. I think I did pretty good, 9 and 1/2 months pregnant and standing in the rain... at the other game we watched earlier in the week, we were sitting under the glaring hot sun.

I have been immersed in sports lately. With the Olympics well underway, it's been non-stop sports here at home. Craig even got up early to watch the USA vs China basketball game Live. I thought the Opening Ceremony was fantastic and I don't know how ours will compare in 2010. I hope my cousin, Ange, who's in Beijing right now, is having a blast and I can't wait to hear all about it when she gets home :o)

Welcome to the Blogging Experience!

Well, with Baby P only about two weeks away and after reading my friends' blogs, it seems like a jolly thing to do. After all, I will have endless time to document the happenings of the wee one, right (ha, ha, ha!)?

We are ready more or less, the nursery is done, car seat is in place and we've started down the path of gadgets and gear galore, all that's left is for Baby P to make their appearance. Until then, I'll continue with my aquafit, visit with friends and relax in the summer heat :o)
